Acceptable Use Policy
Last Updated: 1 September 2026
Effective 2 September 2026 for accounts created on or after that date, and for accounts created before 2 September 2026 on 1 October 2026 or when you accept, whichever is earlier.
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out what you may and may not do with LinkForty. It forms part of our Terms of Service and is incorporated into them by reference. Breaching this policy is a breach of those Terms.
In Short
A short link hides its destination. That is useful, and it is also exactly what makes link shorteners attractive for phishing and fraud. So the rules below are mostly about where your links point and what you use them to do — not about how many you create.
1. Scope
This policy applies to everything you do with the Service: links you create through the dashboard, the API, the MCP server, our SDKs, or a bulk import; the destinations those links point to; the content you host or reference; and the way you use our infrastructure.
It applies to you and to anyone acting under your account, including team members, automated agents, and integrations you have authorised. You are responsible for their activity.
2. Prohibited Content and Destinations
You may not create links that point to, host, or reference:
- Phishing and credential harvesting: pages designed to obtain passwords, payment details, one-time codes, identity documents, or other credentials by imitating a bank, government service, employer, delivery company, or any other organisation
- Impersonation: pages, brand names, or link text presenting themselves as an organisation or person you are not authorised to represent
- Malware: viruses, ransomware, spyware, cryptominers, or any code intended to damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to a device
- Deceptive redirects: destinations that differ materially from what the link or its surrounding context leads a person to expect, including cloaking that shows different content to us, to security scanners, or to different visitors, for the purpose of concealing the real destination
- Illegal content: anything unlawful in the jurisdictions where it is accessible, including child sexual abuse material, content facilitating human trafficking, and unlawful sale of controlled goods
- Infringing content: material that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
Cloaking deserves a specific mention because it is the mechanism most often used to defeat automated screening. Deliberately serving a benign destination while a review or scan is in progress, and a harmful one otherwise, is a breach of this policy in its own right.
3. Prohibited Conduct
You may not use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Send spam or unsolicited bulk messages, or distribute links through channels the recipients did not consent to
- Generate, submit, or attempt to attribute fraudulent clicks, installs, opens, or conversion events — including click spam, click injection, install farms, and SDK spoofing
- Modify, intercept, replay, or falsify any data transmitted by the LinkForty SDK or API
- Circumvent platform policies (Apple App Store, Google Play, or other distribution platforms), including their attribution, tracking, and identifier-use rules such as Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework and SKAdNetwork constraints
- Mislead people about who is collecting their data or for what purpose
- Resell or sublicense the Service without our authorisation
4. Infrastructure and Circumvention
You may not:
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, another customer's workspace, or any data you are not entitled to
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by exceeding documented rate limits deliberately or in a way that degrades service for others
- Access the Service through automated means — a robot, spider, crawler, script, browser extension, or other automated process — to retrieve, scrape, or index any part of it, without our prior written consent. This does not restrict your use of our documented API and SDKs.
- Share API keys or credentials with anyone not authorised under your account
- Create or use an account, workspace, domain, or identity in order to evade a restriction, suspension, or termination applied to you or to anyone else
5. Reporting a Link
Anyone can report a LinkForty link they believe breaches this policy or is unlawful. You do not need an account, and you may report anonymously.
Report a link → or email [email protected].
A report is most useful to us, and fastest to act on, when it includes:
- The short link exactly as you received it
- Why you believe it breaches this policy or is unlawful — for example which organisation it impersonates
- Where you encountered it, if you are willing to say
- An email address, if you would like us to tell you what we decided
We review reports diligently, objectively, and without arbitrary distinction between reporters. Where you give us a contact address we will confirm we have received your report without undue delay, and tell you what we decided and what you can do if you disagree with that decision. Please do not revisit a link you believe is a phishing page in order to gather more detail for us; the short link on its own is enough.
6. How We Enforce This Policy
We aim to take the least disruptive action that addresses the problem: showing visitors a warning page, disabling a single link, restricting a workspace, or suspending an account. Where a link is actively being used to harm people we may act immediately and without prior notice.
In every case we will tell the account holder what we did and why, and how to appeal. A restriction does not delete your data, and it can be reversed in full if we have got it wrong. Section 9 of the Terms of Service sets out the full process, including what a restriction means for API and SDK access, how to appeal, and how long we take to respond.
We may also screen the destinations your links point to against threat-intelligence services. Our Privacy Policy identifies the providers involved and what we send them.
7. Changes to This Policy
Abuse changes faster than commercial terms do, which is why this policy is a separate document: we can add a newly observed technique here without reopening your contract.
Keeping it separate does not reduce what we owe you. This policy is where the restrictions we impose on use of the Service are disclosed, and we will notify account holders of significant changes to it on the same basis as changes to the Terms, under Section 10.3. Enforcement of this policy is carried out diligently, objectively, and proportionately, whatever revision is current.
